Farmer and writer. He has had many scripts broadcast by the BBC and done some work for HTV. Regular contributor on political, agricultural and rural affairs to Farmers Weekly, The Countryman, World Crops, the International Journal of Agriculture, Country Life, The Field, Horse and Hound, Farming News and other magazines. At one time wrote for Punch, Western Mail, Planet, etc. Short stories and poems broadcast by the BBC and published in various magazines, including New Welsh Review.
Patrick started his working life as an itinerant farmworker in Ireland and England before taking a degree in Agriculture at London University. He then resumed his itinerant career in North and South America from Canada to Guyana, a country he revisits at every opportunity. In 1961 he invested all his savings in a small farm in the Brecon Beacons and has been a hill sheep farmer ever since.
He was awarded the John Morgan Prize in 1990, and more recently was consultant agricultural editor for the Academi Encyclopaedia of Wales.
