EARLEY, STEPHEN
Steve Gough (Stephen Earley) was born and grew up in South Wales. After gaining a First Class Honours Degree and Masters in Modern Literature, he began making independent video dramas and documentaries in the late seventies. Steve set up Wales’ first independent video–making centre at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff. He then studied film writing and direction at the National Film & TV School and worked for a number of years as a film–maker, winning awards both in the UK and abroad. As a screen-writer/director, Steve Gough’s credits include Heartland (BBC film with Anthony Hopkins, 1989), Thin Line (drama for Channel 4, 1992) and Elenya (film for S4C and BFI, 1995). In addition to his film and TV work, Steve has taught film writing and direction at UK films schools, including the National Film and TV School, The London International Film School, the Royal College of Arts and the Northern Film School. In the last few years
Steve Gough has published two novels, with a third, Wandering Heart (Gwasg y Bwthyn) accepted for publication in 2006/7. He lives in London.
