Next Year’s Award

The annual Wales Book of the Year prizes, administered by Literature Wales with funding from the Arts Council of Wales, are awarded to the best Welsh-language and English-language works in the fields of creative writing and literary criticism.

Prizes are awarded for the best books published during the previous calendar year. In 2013, Literature Wales is responsible for awarding books first published during 2012.

From the 2012 award onwards, the Wales Book of the Year award will be judged in three categories: Poetry, Fiction and Non-Fiction (click here for the new eligibility criteria). A Short List of three books in each category will be announced. At the award ceremony in summer 2012, the winners of each category will be announced. There will also be one overall winner chosen from the three category winners. 

The deadlines for the submission of copies of eligible books for the 2013 award are the 14 December 2012 (for titles published between January and November 2011), and the 18 January 2013 (for titles published in December 2012).
