A Statement by Literature Wales

Published Tue 6 Mar 2018 - By Literature Wales
Literature Wales’ Statement in Response to the Culture, Welsh Language and Communications Committee’s findings on the Independent Review of Support for Publishing and Literature in Wales:

Literature Wales welcomes the publication of the Culture, Welsh Language and Communications Committee’s findings on the Independent Review of Support for Publishing and Literature in Wales, and acknowledges the Committee’s time spent in conducting this inquiry following concerns expressed relating to the review.

The Committee’s conclusions and recommendations concentrate on looking ahead and on collaborative working for the benefit and development of the literature and publishing sector as a whole. Literature Wales welcomes this approach and is looking forward to continuing discussions with partners in the sector to this end. Many constructive meetings and discussions have already taken place, and have so far focussed specifically on a collective Wales representation at London Book Fair and responding to Dr Siwan Rosser’s Survey of Books for Children and Young People.

Literature Wales is currently recruiting for a new Chair, as the current Chair is due to step down in Spring 2018 in accordance with the mandated length of office set in the company’s Articles of Association. It is also looking for dynamic, committed, capable and visionary individuals to join its Management Board, and who will contribute to the development and promotion of literature in Wales and to continue this sector-wide work.
