National Poet of Wales, Ifor ap Glyn has launched BBC Cymru Fyw’s St David’s Day Campaign today to ask you what your favourite Welsh word is.

The campaign is a way to celebrate the Welsh language’s richness on the day of our patron saint; “I’ll be eagerly looking forward to see what the response is like, as people submit their favourite words to BBC Cymru Fyw,” said Ifor.

He appeared on Aled Hughes’s breakfast show on BBC Radio Cymru to urge the listeners to send their favourite words to the Cymru Fyw website, or tweet #HoffAir (‘favourite word’ in Welsh). BBC Cymru Fyw have asked celebrities like Ales Jones and Chris Evans for their favourite Welsh word too, and they will be revealed on Thursday, 1 March – St David’s Day.
