Calling all budding artists and storytellers! Llandeilo Lit Fest organisers have announced three competitions open to youngsters.

‘If you are aged six or less and know what a fiery dragon looks like, get drawing or painting,’ says festival organiser Christoph Fischer. ‘And, if you are aged seven to eleven the competition is to create an exciting Celtic character and write a mini saga (short story in just 100-200 words) inspired by your creation. The third competition, for eleven to sixteen year olds is to create an image of a legendary person or animal that appears in a Welsh story. Then, around your image, use your  writing skills to describe the character in no more than 400 words.’

Submit your entries by 14 April.

Competition entries will be displayed during Llandeilo Lit Fest and the winners announced in the Civic Hall at 3pm on Saturday 29th April. Saturday’s Lit Fest focus is on children’s books, science fiction and contemporary fiction including readings at different venues around Llandeilo by Graham Watkins – Welsh Legends and Myths, the children’s author, Will MacMillan Jones, Wendy White  –  Welsh Cakes and Custard and host of others plus Nuria Otte will be running a children’s creative workshop.

Llandeilo Lit Fest will take place from the 27th to the 30th April. Further information about the festival programmes and the competitions above can be found at
