Cardiff’s new Literature Lounge brings the World of Words
into St David’s Shopping Centre
Wales’ first ever Literature Lounge, run by Literature Wales, was officially opened in Cardiff on Friday 30 September. For one month only, an unused unit in the Eastside Restaurant Quarter of St David’s shopping centre was transformed into a pop-up literary emporium. Literature Wales served up a scrumptious menu of literary events throughout October including poetry, prose, performance, games, workshops, talks, readings and much more.
Lleucu Siencyn, Acting Chief Executive at Literature Wales said: “The Literature Lounge project is incredibly exciting for us as it is an opportunity to put the power of reading, writing and creativity at the heart of a busy retail outlet. Literature Wales is a new and growing organisation constantly on the lookout for innovative ways to spark enthusiasm for the spoken and written word – and the Literature Lounge is just one of these.”
Literature Wales would like to thank the following individuals, organisations and businesses for their help with the Literature Lounge: St David’s Dewi Sant, John Lewis Cardiff, Cadwaladers Ice Cream Café, The Guardian, Robert Kennedy, Seth Oliver, Gwdihŵ Cafe Bar, Parthian Books and Seren Books.
