Joining

Literature is at the heart of Welsh culture. Staying in touch is crucial. Those with an interest in literature in Wales can become Associate Members of The Welsh Academy, the national Society of the Writers of Wales.

Rates are currently £15 annually (waged) £7.50 (unwaged). *NEW FROM 1 APRIL, 2011 - If you are a student enrolled in full or part-time FE or HE education in Wales (or with a permanent home address in Wales) you are now able to join The Welsh Academy for free.*

Welsh Academy Members are entitled to a host of new benefits which include reduced subscriptions to many of Wales’ top literary magazines, concessionary rate entry to all Literature Wales and Literature Wales schemes funded events and discounted entry to specific events at many premier arts venues. Fuller details are:

How to Join

To become an Associate Member of The Welsh Academy, please send a cheque for the relevant amount to: The Welsh Academy c/o Literature Wales, 3rd floor, Mount Stuart House, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff, CF10 5FQ. Please include a note stating your desire to join, along with your full name, postal address, email address and telephone number. Payments can also be made over the phone on 02920 472266.

To apply to become a Student Member, send us a photocopy of your College/University acceptance letter or form which states your full period of study (i.e. it must specify an expiry date). Please include a note stating your desire to join, along with your full name, postal address, email address and telephone number.

Please note: Full Membership, Fellowship and Honorary Membership of The Welsh Academy is by invitation only.
