What it Means to be a Member

Full Membership of The Welsh Academy is awarded to writers as a mark of peer recognition of their contribution to the literatures of Wales. Existing Members can be awarded Fellowship if they have achieved particular prominence, or, over an extended period of time, have made an exceptional contribution to literature. Honorary Membership is awarded to non-writers who have made an exceptional contribution to the literary culture of Wales.

These honours are bestowed by the Management Board at biannual meetings. Click here for the Membership criteria in full and here to find out who is on the current Management Board.
