Job Opportunity: Cultural Olympiad Project Commission

Caerphilly County Borough Council are offering a commission to coordinate, develop and programme their Cultural Olympiad related events that take place in the County Borough.
The project will work towards the Cultural Olympiad celebrations in 2012 at Caerphilly Castle. The Castle has been chosen as one of 8 sites in the country to host an event in 2012. The final production will be a celebration of culture in the county and will work in several art forms to deliver a large-scale spectacular performance involving music, song, performance, film and other visual installations.
Caerphilly Council’s Arts Development Service are in the process of developing a programme of events and workshops that will feed into this high profile showcase event. The project will involve working with Arts Development, the project’s Artistic Director, Arts Council Wales (ACW), CADW, and various community groups and schools in devising a finale called ‘Futura’. Caerphilly Arts Development receives Legacy funding which is administered by ACW to carry out this work.
The commission will run from 1st September 2010 to March 31st 2011, and will be based on flexible working hours of 3 days (22.2 hours per week) with a total fee of £7, 947. The applicant will need experience of programming, planning events, managing budgets and fundraising. Applicants must be self-employed and will be responsible for their own NI and Inland Revenue contributions.
