Wales Book of the Year Glittering Ceremony
Wednesday 30 June 2010, 7.30 pm
St. David’s Hotel & Spa, Cardiff Bay

A ’powerful’ debut novel, a collection of poems inspired by pin-hole camera, and a ground-breaking study of the Mabinogi battle it out for this year’s £10,000 prize.

If you would like to be one of the first people to hear who has won Wales Book of the Year 2010 then join Academi at the Glittering Ceremony at The St. David’s Hotel & Spa in Cardiff Bay on Wednesday 30 June. On the evening the winners – one in Welsh and one in English – will each be awarded with £10,000.

The evening will be presented by BBC Political Editor, Betsan Powys. Adjudications will be made by John Gwilym Jones and James Hawes and the awards will be presented by Minister for Heritage, Alun Ffred Jones. Actor Steffan Rhodri, best known for his role as ‘Dave Coaches’ in the hit TV series Gavin & Stacey, will be the guest speaker.

The English-language Short List for 2010 is:

I Spy Pinhole Eye, Philip Gross (Cinnamon Press)

Carry Me Home, Terri Wiltshire (Macmillan)

The Compilation of the Four Branches of the Mabinogi, Nikolai Tolstoy
(The Edwin Mellen Press)
