Sixteen Poets Needed in Denbigh…

Denbigh Midsummer Festival are running a Poetry Slam at The Plough, Bridge Street, Denbigh on Sunday 20 June. Proceedings start at 6.30 pm, when sixteen poets will have 3 minutes each to perform a poem to the audience. Using scorecards, the audience will decide a winner from each of the four rounds of four poets, followed by an overall winner in a final round of fresh poems.

Each participating poet will receive a £10 performance fee, and the overall slam winner will be awarded with a further £15 and a bottle of champagne. M.C. is 2009 John Tripp Award for Spoken Poetry finalist Gareth Glyn Roberts.

Any performances exceeding the 3 minute limit will be disqualified. Poems can cover any topic, silly or serious. Come armed with two poems in case you make it to the final. The audience's decision is final; there is no appeal procedure.
