Basil P. Griffiths: 1932 - 2009

Basil P. Griffiths

Basil P. Griffiths was born in Cardiff in 1932. Following RAF service he worked for the South Wales Constabulary. Subsequent to his retirement in 1982 he wrote a number of feature articles, short stories and poetry; his work appearing variously in publications including Planet, New Welsh Review, Roundyhouse, Salisbury Review, Country Quest, Western Mail etc. His poetry has also been included in numerous anthologies. Basil Griffiths was a member of the performance poetry group Salem taking part in readings around the world and was the secretary of Scriveners, the Abergavenny-based writers group.

His selected publications include My Residual Nation (Stonebridge). He also contributed to numerous publications including Black Harvest (Underground Press, 1992), Private People (The Collective, 1999), Over Milk Wood (Alun Books, 2000) and This is………Salem (Stonebridge).
