The People's Book Prize

The People's Book Prize is a national competition aimed at discovering talented authors showcased exclusively at your local library and on this website with no panel of judges except you, the public. Each month new titles are added to the site and those which get the most votes in all 3 categories will go forward as finalists for the annual People's Book Prize Awards on 30 July 2010.

There are a number of books from Wales featured on the list. Mrs D’Silva’s Detective Instincts and the Shaitan of Calcutta (Parthian) by Glen Peters was featured in the July list and 2009 Wales Book of the Year winner Grace, Tamar and Laszlo the Beautiful (Parthian) by Deborah Kay Davies was on the list for August. Voting has now closed for June to September.

Voting is currently underway for the October books of which Twenty Thousand Saints by Fflur Dafydd is one and the November list which features The Banquet of Esther Rosenbaum by Penny Simpson; Soothing Music for Stray Cats by Jayne Joso and The Sleepwalkers’ Ball by Alan Bilton. All published by Alcemi.
