 Cardiff University

Friday, 6 November 2009, 7.00 - 8.00 pm
Ground Floor Lecture Theatre, Optometry Building, Cardiff University

This year’s Cardiff Humanities Research Institute Annual Lecture will be delivered by the Distinguished Visiting Research Fellow Dr Maurizio Ascari (University of Bologna). A scholar of international renown, Dr Ascari has published widely on the formation of the literary canon, anarchist fiction, travel writing and crime fiction.

Dr Ascari’s lecture will explore the significance of Shakespeare’s birthplace and its role as a literary shrine in the construction of the bard as an icon counterpoised against literary theories disputing the legitimacy of Shakespeare’s authorship of the work attributed to him. For more information visit the Cardiff Humanities Research Institute's website by clicking here.

A pre-lecture drinks reception will be held in the foyer of the Optometry building at 6.30 pm. The lecture and reception are free and open to all but attendance is by ticket only on a first come first served basis. To book your place, please email publicbookings@cardiff.ac.uk.
