A tribute to the journalist and broadcaster Patrick Hannan

The broadcaster and journalist Patrick Hannan, who reported politics in Wales for more than 40 years, died in October 2009 after a short illness, aged 68. He began his distinguished career with The Western Mail before joining BBC Wales in 1970. He became a political correspondent and presented radio news programmes. He also produced television documentaries for BBC Two, BBC Wales and HTV Wales, was a columnist for The Western Mail and published five books. He was an Academi Member.
