This month, the award winning author and singer-songwriter Fflur Dafydd traveled to Iowa University, the premier centre for creative writing in the US, to take up a residency at their prestigious International Writing Program. Since 1967, over a thousand writers from more than 120 countries have attended the IWP at the University of Iowa, and this year, Fflur has been selected by the British Council as the Welsh/UK participant.

The project is designed for established and emerging creative writers — poets, fiction writers, dramatists, and non-fiction writers. She will be taking part in a number of public events including a Reading at Prairie Lights book shop, and a Panel Presentation at the Iowa City Public Library on the subject Translation/Writing Between Languages.

During her visit Fflur will also teach a special creative writing seminar to undergraduates at the University of Iowa. This four-week course will meet at the Writers’ House at 111 Church Street, a unique campus space dedicated to fostering writing, artistic collaboration, and literary performance at the University of Iowa.
