'Celtic Dreams and English Nightmares': Paintings by Ieuan Rhys Daniel and Writing by Janet Daniel

Janet and Ieuan Rhys Daniel, who live near Cardiff, are exhibiting their creative response to the unconscious world of their own dreaming. This unique display comprises paintings by Ieuan Rhys, and writing by Janet. Profits on all sales will be donated to local charities for the homeless.
Janet was born and bred in London and Rhys hails from Tregaron in Mid Wales. They met on a photography course at Barry Summer School and have been married for thirty years with two grown up children.
Janet’s first career was as a librarian, working in London, Indonesia and Greece. She has worked in community arts and managed voluntary organisations providing advocacy, information and support for people with physical and learning disabilities and their families. For the past twelve years she has worked as a professional counsellor and family mediator in a variety of organisations and now works independently. Janet has a MSc in Media Studies and has attended several creative writing courses. She has written short stories, some poetry, a play and a book about a year spent working and living with Rhys in the Shetland Isles. Her ambition is to be published.
Rhys is an experienced teacher with over 35years work in schools, 26 as Head of Art at Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen in Pontypridd. He has worked with mixed groups including children and adults with special needs in workshops and community arts projects. He is currently an adult education art tutor in Barry. He has a successful track record as a visual artist and has exhibited in Britain and abroad. He uses mainly mixed media. His last show at the Norwegian Church explored connections between the prehistoric stone monuments of Wales and Shetland.
