On the Border presents
James Fenton and Kathryn Gray

Saturday 1 August 2009, 7.30 pm
The Drill Hall, Lower Church St., Chepstow NP16 5HJ
Tickets: £12.00 (£10.00 concs)
On the Border presents an evening to remember on Saturday 1 August when James Fenton gives a reading with Kathryn Gray at the Drill Hall in Chepstow.
James Fenton’s exceptional output includes delicate light verse, thundering observations on conflict and war, philosophical riffs, searing self analysis, and some of the most beautiful love poems of the last fifty years – all accomplished with a seemingly effortless virtuosity. Though increasingly rare, his readings are very special events.
Kathryn Gray is already a force to be reckoned with. Her debut collection, The Never-Never (Seren) gathered a host of admiring reviews, being short-listed for both the Felix Dennis and the T.S. Eliot prizes. Her poetry is “an utterly contemporary balance of fragility and assurance”. Kathryn is currently Editor of New Welsh Review.
Kathryn Gray’s wit and delivery are a pleasure in themselves whilst a reading by James Fenton is as rare as hen’s teeth. This is a genuine must-see event.
