SLAMbassadors: Slam Poetry Competition

Are you 13–19? Got a way with words? Write & perform poetry? Rap? Spoken word?
BBC Blast has teamed up with the Poetry Society to challenge all budding performers to write and perform an original 60 second slam poem on the theme of identity: who you are, where you come from, cultural, national, human identity…
The prize? A 2 day masterclass with Poetry Society professionals plus the chance to perform at our London showcase alongside renowned performance poet Benjamin Zephaniah.

Hip Hop Shakespeare Competition

Fancy the chance to win a masterclass with Bashy and Akala plus your own Maida Vale session, broadcast on 1Xtra?
BBC Blast have joined forces with 1Xtra and The Hip Hop Shakespeare Company to challenge all MCs, singers and poets aged 13–19 to drop a 60-second verse inspired by hip hop and the works of William Shakespeare.
Rap, sing or perform a spoken word verse to win the chance to hone your skills with MOBO award-winning artist Akala and special guest Bashy. Perform at the legendary Maida Vale Studios and be broadcast on 1Xtra’s Introducing Homegrown show with Ras Kwame.
