From Washington with Love

Thursday 2 July 2009, 7.30 pm
Y Fuwch Goch, Womanby Street, Cardiff
Tickets: £4.00 / £3.00
In March this year Academi took five of Wales’ most talented young writers to the US capital to take part in a week-long celebration of contemporary Welsh literature. Following on from the huge success of Washington Meets Wales Academi are bringing together, for one night only, four of the intrepid travellers for a bilingual night of poetry, prose and song.
The impressive line-up includes competitive surfer and travel writer Tom Anderson; author, dramatist, poet, and Academi Bursary recipient, Catrin Dafydd; poet, academic and cynghanedd expert, Eurig Salisbury plus author, singer-songwriter and recent Winner of the Oxfam Emerging Writers Award, Fflur Dafydd.
Washington Meets Wales is part of the wider Smithsonian Cymru 2009 programme of activities and events, which includes Wales as a guest nation at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in June.
So join Academi along with Tom, Catrin, Eurig and Fflur to celebrate the two cultures of Washington DC and Wales.
