National Theatre New Connections

5 – 9 April 7.00 pm
Weston Studio, Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff
Tickets: £4
Every year the National Theatre commissions established playwrights to write their next new play; the only proviso is that teenagers will be performing them.
This year New Connections comes to Cardiff for the first time; an amazing opportunity for young people to take on a new script and perform it to audiences in the Weston Studio, with Wales Millennium Centre as a New Connections partner venue.
As well as this, one production of each script in the portfolio will be selected to showcase as part of the National Theatre’s festival of new writing for young people at the NT on London’s South Bank.
This year, all 12 plays have a recurring theme familiar to all young people: the forging of first friendships.
"It’s no surprise that first division playwrights queue up to write for New Connections…It’s the best possible advertisement for theatre, young people, and their teachers."
